To My Valentines

Now, I'm a pretty romantic sort of guy. There are few things I enjoy more than making a lady feel special.

Now someday I imagine it is possible that there would be someone to whom I could dedicate this perfect expression of love, admiration and respect. Someone who could appreciate the profound gratitude articulated by such a work of poetry.

But for now, I dedicate this to all who have someone special in their lives- all that can glean some inspiration from this song and find the words to express just how unbelievable that booty is.

Roosevelt is a small town. It is very cold this time of year. It is still one of my favorite Utah destinations for a fun weekend because:

Suzanne makes millions of super buttery cookies.

Christopher is a fine Rock Band vocalist, and is patient with my severely lacking video-game fantasy guitar playing skills.

Jed has plenty of insulated coveralls and a pottery studio.

Marion's is one of the few remaining locations to drink an old-timey Ironport- and if you ask they will put ice cream in it for you.

Pawn Shopping. Ask Elaine about her bad-ass leather jacket and new small town boyfriend.

Funny movies.

Nachos.

Because it is that time of year

so one time a month ago...

Have i ever told you the story of the time i spent a weekend pushing magazines on holiday festival - going folk?

If you guessed it was the one in green shoes with paint all over his tuxedo t-shirt, that would have been my guess too -- and i think we would be correct. This is the gentleman featured in the story i told on the podcast.

Now for my appeal:
does anybody know this guy? or know who he is? I am not kidding when i say that i would really like to hang out with him.

So, with gentle rob getting married one of these upcoming days, there has been a lot of talk of bachelor parties being thrown around. All this talk naturally caused me to reminisce about a place that has played a part in my life for many years now- seattle's own, beloved Lusty Lady.

Now, i must confess i have never actually been inside the lusty lady (tee hee hee hee) - but her clever marquees have been keeping me entertained on many a trip downtown since at least the fifth grade.

Dude Flume (part II)

It has been one year since the creation of the legendary DUDE FLUME (for weight purposes).

we celebrated the anniversary by revisiting lagoon, and once again trying to overload the log flume ride with dude.


i would call it a success.

i also tried to take some movies during the rides, and i guess they are ok, but they are probably no fun for anyone to watch. I did think the bumper car video i made was kind of funny, but only with the right theme song playing:

This is the grotto where the virgin mary appeared! it's on a hill about 200 yards from the mission. she must have gotten lost or something:

wild west weekend!

i decided to go all wild west last weekend and went on a desert road trip looking for wild west towns. i found a few, but only took pictures in two of them. deal with it.

photo disclaimer- i forgot to bring sunglasses, so in 90% of the pictures i am in, i am very squinty, or my eyes are closed. i'm not making faces. i swear.

Bisbee, AZ:


this was the better of the towns in my opinion. really nicely restored/maintained, with just enough stuff left in an abandoned state to make it feel like a touristy ghost town. the surrounding houses in the hills were awesome and we spent an hour or so driving around really narrow roads on the mountainside. totally awesome (no pictures of them, deal with it).


Tombstone, AZ:


tombstone was fun, but totally rediculous. I would like to say it was well restored, but i think it was less restored, more overrun by tourism. really it was like being at disneyland, or pioneer town at lagoon, but with a more violent history.

i didn't take this picture of the gunfight. we had missed the last public one, and didn't want to drop $20 to see one in a walled off OK Corral (i looked through a crack in the wall. it looks just like a normal corral). besides, i can wait until lavender days.



the courthouse was cool. it was probably the most authentic thing in the whole town. interesting fact: only 7 people were ever legally hanged at those gallows.



i also really liked boot hill.
